The South Dakota Journalism Press Convention

The South Dakota Journalism Press Convention took place in Brookings on Monday, October 17th, 2022. The convention included schools all over South Dakota. There were a couple of great keynote speakers, breakout student and advisor sessions, and a student discussion panel. The sessions involved many different topics within journalism (yearbook, photography, and school newspaper). Some sessions also included Sports Journalism and Broadcasting. Lastly, the convention included awards that were given out to individuals and schools in the areas of Newswriting, Yearbooks, and Photography. Although we did not walk away with an award for our Yearbook entry, we did walk away with many positive tips on how to improve our yearbook, journalism class, and school newsletter. We hope to improve the area of journalism and grow the interest within our student body! The students had a blast and want to go back next year!
